Alphonso A. Yarjah

Alphonso Alpha Yarjah is a seasoned entrepreneur and executive with

over three decades of experience spanning international business, mining,

hospitality, education, and cultural exchange. Born in Bandawor, Eastern

Sierra Leone, he began his career as a teacher before pursuing higher

education in Russia, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Printing

Technology and a Master’s degree with distinction in Library and

Information Technology. His professional journey includes leadership roles

in major international ventures, such as heading the international

department of Orthicon Exhibition Company in Russia and directing Acorn

International and Fair Trade International in the UK. He later returned to

Sierra Leone, where he became a pivotal figure in the mining

sector—serving as Managing Director of Sierra-Rus Limited and African

Star Limited, and playing a key role in the publication of Sierra Leone’s

diamond cutting and polishing legislation in 2007.

Mr. Yarjah also served as Country Director for Transcend International

Resources (SL) Limited, overseeing projects that collectively generated

over $250 million in revenue through gold and zircon mining. He further

managed SHK Services, a contract mining firm for Sierra Rutile, and led the

construction of the Atlantic Hotel, now considered one of Freetown’s

premier accommodations. Currently, he is the CEO and Managing Director
